NOBODY by Jennifer Lynn Barnes GIVEAWAY

There are people in this world who are Nobody. No one sees them. No one notices them. They live their lives under the radar, forgotten as soon as you turn away.

That's why they make the perfect assassins.

The Institute finds these people when they're young and takes them away for training. But an untrained Nobody is a threat to their organization. And threats must be eliminated.

Sixteen-year-old Claire has been invisible her whole life, missed by the Institute's monitoring. But now they've ID'ed her and send seventeen-year-old Nix to remove her. Yet the moment he lays eyes on her, he can't make the hit. It's as if Claire and Nix are the only people in the world for each other. And they are--because no one else can really see them.

In Barnes' newest scifi thriller, takes us into a world where you could literally be a forgettable face.  Where your own parents would struggle to remember you exist when you're standing next to them or where your next door neighbor could with a word make you do anything to please them.

I reviewed Nobody yesterday and am very pleased to be able to give everyone a chance to win their own copy!

In Barnes' book she posits that there are 4 types of people based on their energy.
  • "Normals" - folk who have just the right amount of energy to interact however they choose with the world.  They give and take energy in equal parts, leaving a trace of themselves in everyone they interact with and can leave a permanent affect on the world.
  • "Nobodies" - folk who have no energy and thus can not interact with the world.  They can't give energy nor take energy.  Their state of being makes it impossible for a person to remember them clearly or be affected by them.
  • "Nulls" - folk who have too much energy and can use it to manipulate others.  They don't participate in the give/take relationship like "Normals", they take and take and take.  Sociopaths, they enslave people to their will and affect the world for selfish reasons.
  • "Sensors" - technically they fall in line with "Normals", in that they can give/take energy in equal parts, but they have a little bit extra energy focused in one of their five senses that enables them to 'feel' energy and track "Nulls" (to a certain extent "Nobodies" as well, by the absence of energy mainly).
To win a hardcover copy of Nobody and a paperback copy of Every Other Day, tell me in the comments which type of person you would want to be and why.

For myself I'd like to be a Sensor I think--how cool would it be to be able to sense a person's energy just by waving my hands around?  Its a limited occupation of course, but hey they seem to pay really well...
